OUT FRIDAY NUBYA GARCIA SHARES NEW REMIX ALBUM SOURCE ⧺ WE MOVE A REIMAGINING OF THE MERCURY-PRIZE NOMINATED LP

London-based saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia releases her upcoming remix album, SOURCE ⧺ WE MOVE, featuring 9 remixes this Friday, October 22nd. Garcia teams up with an exciting and innovative array of artists including Dengue Dengue Dengue, Kaidi Tatham, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and keiyaA for a reimagined look at her critically acclaimed album, Source (2020).

This futuristic take on the acclaimed jazz masterwork that is Source amplifies Garcia’s talents and composition with booming drums, driving bass, and electronica inspired manipulation of instrumentals. Bandcamp praised lead single, “Pace (Moses Boyd remix)” as one of September 2021’s best  tracks, saying: “The melodic narratives of star saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia are woven into oceanic chords and rolling breakbeats to make something that is, frankly, majestic.”

Pitchfork, NPR, Rolling Stone, and countless others have acclaimed the Afro-Caribbean jazz prodigy’s ceaseless musical innovation, with last year’s Source landing on numerous End Of Year lists. The energized dance club reimagining of SOURCE ⧺ WE MOVE redefines the possibilities of genre mixing within the jazz world and introduces a contemporary context into today’s scene.

After a lengthy enforced hiatus, Garcia and her band – which features Joe Armon-Jones on keys, Daniel Casimir on double bass, and Sam Jones on drums – recently resumed playing live. In addition to the Proms, they’ve brought their uplifting, joyous live show to various festivals, including Latitude, We Out Here, Green Man and All Points East, have more dates throughout the summer, plus a headline UK tour from 31st October to 8th November.  Garcia also continues her long-running monthly DJ residency on NTS Radio.
