SLOW BURN, NEWEST ALBUM FROM JAZZ AND R&B ICON BONEY JAMES, RELEASES TODAY FROM CONCORD RECORDS
LOS ANGELES (October, 18th, 2024) – Legendary saxophonist and composer Boney James released his highly anticipated 19th studio album Slow Burn today through Concord Records. A collection of ten new tracks produced by James, the album includes the hit single “All I Want Is You” featuring vocals from critically acclaimed R&B newcomer October London. The sultry track has quickly become a fan favorite since its July debut, and has enjoyed immense success as a top 15 hit on the Billboard Adult R&B chart, and at UAC radio, where it currently sits at #12 on both charts.
Additional early releases from Slow Burn include September’s funk-inspired “Slide,” which includes members of Boney’s touring band, and the soulful “Butterfly,” an inspired interpretation of the Herbie Hancock and Bennie Maupin classic that features Jazz greats Corey Henry on electric piano and Marcus Miller on bass. Other guest features and collaborators on Slow Burn include multi-instrumentalist Jairus Mozee (Anderson.Paak, Anthony Hamilton, Nikki Minaj, etc.), who co-wrote and co-produced four tracks on the album with Boney, including title track “Slow Burn,” and Rick Braun, who plays trumpet on Boney’s funky take on Stanley Turrentines’s “Sugar.” A new performance video for album cut “The Bounce” released today as the latest focus track from Slow Burn.

Slow Burn comes on the heels of what continues to be a momentous year for James. In addition to his major charting success with "All I Want Is You," the sax legend recently surpassed the one-billion stream mark on Pandora, making him one of the few modern-day jazz artists to achieve such a feat. With sold-out tour dates through the end of the year into early 2025, this is a new high point in the chart-topping, contemporary jazz icon’s remarkable three-decade career that already includes a long list of accolades: four GRAMMY nominations, three NAACP Image Award nominations, a Soul Train Award for Best Jazz Album, and four RIAA Gold Record certifications, to name just a few. “This is my 19th record and I feel like I’m just hitting my stride,” James recently reflected.
Boney continues on the road for select dates across the U.S. through the fall and into early next year, bringing his iconic 30-year career to the live stage. For further information on all tour dates and on-sale info, please visit https://boneyjames.com/.
